Can I pay for CheckWriter Cloud with a check?
No. Customers cannot pay for CheckWriter Cloud with a check.
CheckWriter Cloud bills a MasterCard, Visa, or American Express debit or credit card drawn on a US bank only with valid AVS [Address Verification Service] response.
Why?
Because this is a merchant account, we are required to validate the merchant's address is still valid on a monthly basis. This is achieved using the credit card AVS or Address Verification System. AVS is not offered on checking accounts.
Long answer:
Yes, KYC (know your customer) regulations require monthly merchant validation. Some merchant accounts send out a paper statement, a service that can cost about $7 per customer monthly. With a typical ACH or credit card merchant account costing hundreds, or thousands of dollars monthly, this is a build in expense. With CheckWriter starting at $8 per month, verification systems like paper invoicing would significantly and un-necessarily add to the cost.
